Unity has no set creed or dogma that its members must follow. Unity encourages people to explore and apply Unity teachings based on their own spiritual understanding. This spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation.
The five basic ideas of the Unity belief system are:
1) God is all-good and is present everywhere.
2) The spirit of God lives within each person.
3) We create our life experiences through our thoughts.
4) There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our connection to God.
5) Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them.

We laugh, sing, and celebrate at our beautiful Sunday services, where all are welcome. Through prayer, meditation, forgiveness, and mindful, loving activities, we seek and affirm all that is Good and all that is True and, that we are all one.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Choir. COTH has an open choir and welcomes anyone who wishes to sing. See our Music Ministry page for lots more information on our music program.
Ushers. Ushers distribute literature and welcome visitors to our services. Patty Guard coordinates our usher staff and welcome volunteers.
Fellowship. Andrea Solay, along with other volunteers, set an ample table of delictables for the congregation to enjoy after the services. Please feel free to bring your favorite goodie.
Platform Assistants. Each service is facilitated by a volunteer Platform Assistant. If you are interested or willing to be a PA, please contact any board member or our office manager.
Mastermind Group
Group Format. Each Sunday our Mastermind Group meets for approximately an hour after fellowship following the service. After an opening prayer, the group attendees check in on their goals, set intentions for the future, identify prayer requests, determine a prayer list for the week, and denials and affirmations are formulated for those in need. Although no materials are required, many members find it helpful to keep a prayer journal or MasterMind Journal. These materials are available at the bookstore at the beginning of the calendar year. New members are always welcome and no time commitment is required.
The Master Mind Principle is a scientific method of focusing the power of thought to connect with the Master Mind (God, Spirit, your Source) for the purpose of making positive changes in your life.
It incorporates:
• Powerful goal setting and achieving
• Affirmation
• Praying for yourself, your Master Mind partner, and others in the Master Mind group.
The Master Mind principle is based on the ancient premise that "where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:20)
It also teaches that other like-minded individuals can believe for you, and accept as true, things that you may find difficult to conceive or believe for yourself and that our combined energies are many times greater that the sum of our individual energies alone.
Eight Steps in the Master Mind Consciousness
1) I surrender. I admit that of myself I am powerless to solve my problems, powerless to improve my life. I need help.
2) I believe. I come to believe that there is a power greater than myself - God the Master Mind - can change my life.
3) I am ready to be changed. I realize that erroneous, self-defeating thinking is the cause of my problems, unhappiness, fears and failures. I am ready to have my beliefs and attitudes changed so my life can be transformed.
4) I decide to be changed. I make a decision to surrender my will and my life to God, the Master Mind. I ask to be changed at depth.
5) I forgive. I forgive myself for all my mistakes and shortcomings. I also forgive all other persons who may have harmed me.
6) I ask. I make known my specific requests, asking my partners' support in knowing that God the Master Mind is fulfilling my needs.
7) I give thanks. I give thanks that God the Master Mind is responding to my needs and I assume the same feelings I would have if my request were fulfilled.
8) I dedicate my life. I now have a covenant in which it is agreed that God the Master Mind is supplying me with the abundance of all things necessary to live a successful and happy life. I dedicate myself to be of maximum service to God and those around me; to live in a manner that sets the highest example for others to follow and to remain responsive to God's guidance. I go forth with a spirit of enthusiasm, excitement and expectancy. I am at peace.
A Course in Miracles Group
Group Format. Each Sunday our Course in Miracles reading group meets for approximately an hour after fellowship following the service. Anyone may attend the group, you need no prior experience. If you have a book, bring it and if not you are welcome to use one of ours. We offer an informal gathering place for reading and discussion.

• Trustees each serve a two-year term on a rotational basis. Elections for the trustees are held at the annual membership meeting on the first Sunday of November.

Directions and Parking By Car
Click here to open google maps for directions from your location.
From Maryland and the North. Take Georgia Ave south, turn right on Rhode Island Ave, go two blocks, turn left on 10th Street. Go about a mile, turn right on H Street. Go 1 blcok, turn left on 10th Street. Go half block, turn left on G Place to parking entrance on your right.
From Virginia and the South.
Take 395, cross the 14th Street bridge. Proceed down 14th Street. Pass G street, turn right on New York Ave, at light, bear right on H Street. Go 3 blocks, turn right on 10th Street. Half way down the block turn left onto G Place and immediately right into the parking garage.
Street Parking
If you drive and park on the street, the entrance to the church faces G Street at 10th Street. This brings you into the Narthex, the sanctuary is immediately to your right. Street parking on Sunday is free.
Parking in the Building
There is some parking available in the building's underground garage. This is accessible from a small street behind the building named G Place (unmarked on map) As you determine your route, note that both 10th Street and G Place are one-way. Traveling south on 10th Street from H Street, turn left into onto G Place just past the building. The garage entrance is immediately on your right. A sign says Welcome to 733 10th & G - you are in the right place!
The ramp into the garage is technically a two-way ramp, but it is a bit tight -- if you see another car coming up the ramp you may want to wait for it to exit before proceeding down.
As in any underground garage with automated equipment, at the bottom of the ramp take a parking ticket and the automated arm will rise. Keep the parking ticket with you, because you will need to validate it inside the church. As you exit the garage insert your validated parking ticket in the machine, and the automated arm will rise. Don't worry-if the arm doesn't rise for some reason, the parking attendant (located in the small office to your left) can help you.
As you proceed down the parking levels, you will see signs for the church elevator as you drive down the ramp. Park in any unreserved space. There is an entrance to the church elevator at each level (P1, P2, and P3). The entrance to the church elevator on each level is marked by a very large P1, P2, or P3, and the name of the church is on the glass panel. There is a second elevator for 733 10th Street-do not take this elevator.
The elevator stops at:
each parking level of the garage,
the first floor (for the Narthex, Sanctuary, and Living Room), and second floor (for the Sanctuary balcony, Chapel, Social Hall and kitchen, and education and office suites).
By Metro
From Metrorail.
The church is at 945 G Street between Metro Center and Gallery Place.
From Metro Center
Take trains to Metro Center. Exit the Metro Center terminal at the 11th Street exit (east). As you come up to the street you will be facing south at the top of the escalators and the street on your right will be 11th Street. Turn right or left and double back to the cross street (that is G Street), turn right and go one block to 1oth Street. The church is a large modern building on the NE corner of 10th and G Street.
From Gallery Place
Take trains to Gallery Place. Exit at the Galleries exit that brings you up to 9th and G Street NW. As you come off the escalator, turn right. The street going off to the right is G Street. Marianne Williamson
Transforming Ourselves, Transforming Our World
10-12pm and 2-4pm
The spheres of spirituality and social change have begun to merge, a la Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. As people we are taking more and more seriously the injunction that we must "be the change" we want to see happen in the world. In this special workshop, Marianne Williamson explores the interface of personal and global transformation - a healing of the world from the inside out - and how every individual has a unique and important part to play in it.
Marianne Williamson is an internationally acclaimed author and lecturer. Six of her ten published books have been New York Times Best Sellers. Four of these have been #1 New York Times Best Sellers. A Return to Love is considered a must-read of The New Spirtiuality, and her quote from that book beginning, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure" has become a spirtual anthem for a generation.
She founded Project Angel Food, a meals-on-wheels program that serves homebound people with AIDS in the Los Angeles area. Today, Project Angel Food serves 1,000 people daily. She also founded a grass roots campaign to establish a United States Department of Peace.

Bob Sima
Singer, Songwriter
When Bob Sima opens his mouth to sing what comes out is far beyond the human sounds of a warm and soulful voice, yep, theres more. A story, a nudge, a reminder, an angle on something very familiar you probably have never considered the way he presents it. What draws you in is his warm yet powerful voice, but once inside, you are often transformed.
Bob Sima is a poet, observer, scribe, sometimes reluctant healer all bundled up into one singing songwriting bundle of energy so tapped in he kinda needs a glass. His right hand slaps the guitar in a seemingly casual fashion, usually in rhythm with all of the toes in the room.
Bob is a different kind of singer-songwriter, there is more than the songs, there is more than the voice, there is more than the stories, yes there is more. Bob truly moves his audiences. He moves their hearts and minds and his concerts are known for evoking full range of emotion. Bob is probably more influenced by the likes of Rumi and Gandhi as he is by Dylan or Guthrie.
